The Courses

Wild at Art - The Thursday Group

We are a group of ladies who share laughter, a love of life and chocolate and who find inspiration in every deep hedgerow and freshly turned mole hill.

This exhibition represents the work which has grown throughout the seasons, each individual unfurling their own interpretation of a seasonally inspired project. We work from, with and in nature, embracing and encompassing all her mood changes from dark, wet winter days to sparkling, dew laden mornings.

Once a week, on a Thursday morning, we meet in a field, by a stream or in a dusty workshop, to enjoy the discovery together of a new technique or maybe revisit an old one, but approach it with a new light. Our mornings run from 10am to 1pm, with an endless supply of coffee, cake and good cheer. We welcome newcomers, who need no previous experience or knowledge. All equipment is supplied. If you are interested in joining us, please contact Lucy Williams, telephone number 01892 724375 or email lucyheartwood@hotmail.co.uk

Heartwood

Bespoke Woodwork

Lucy Williams is a talented woodworker and her garden furniture raises the humble bench to new heights with original, often whimsical carvings, and bright harmonious colours. Lucy's furniture has gained a reputation in its own right and provides her with that most enviable of things - a hobby profitable enough to be a career.

Enchanting furniture with a heart. Heartwood company brings larger than life enchantment and a touch of magic to gardens large and small.

“Art that works” is the ethos behind Heartwood’s natural garden sculptures and furniture, which are individually commissioned and tailored. Made principally from wood all of which is either reclaimed or from a renewable source.

As well as the unconventional pieces of furniture we also have received many commissions for the more formal, including refectory tables, benches, bed heads and cabinets. Larger commissions have included Tree Houses, Bridges and Totem Poles.

We are happy to fulfill any project and work closely with our clients to ensure we meet all of your specifications.

You are welcome to visit the workshop by prior arrangement at Marle Place, where a selection of our work is on display around the beautiful gardens.

Lucy's woodworking barn is situated within the grounds as is Lindel's studio and the art gallery.
