Exhibitions and Events for 2008

There is always art work to be seen in the garden and gallery throughout the
season. Entrance to all exhibitions is free once in the grounds, but
entrance to the garden will apply as normal. Sorry, we can’t accept reduced
price tickets on charity open days.

March 21 to 9 April Lindel Williams
Resident Artist at Marle Place shows paintings inspired by the garden. She
will be working in her studio above the Gallery some of the time, happy to
stop and chat.

April 10 to May 6 Wild at Art

A group of talented artists using natural and locally gleaned materials, guided by Lucy Williams, display their innovative and highly individual pieces. The group will be in the gallery some of the time to talk and demonstrate their work.

John Hanson, architect, traditional freestyle watercolours and pastels and
David Aspinall, professional watercolourist, light colour, texture show
their very proficient and engaging work.

Debbie Thompsett Paintings and Sculpture

A non representational ceramicist, some of whose elegant and emotive pieces already adorn the garden, shows new work. I find the challenge of working with clay as an expressive art form exciting, frustrating and scary!

Our part of the South East’s biggest art show in their 12th year.

Hospice in the Weald

Back again with a stunning display of photographs taken in the gardens and
woods at Marle Place, and processed and printed by patients of the Hospice.
This beautiful work is all for sale with the proceeds going to the Hospice.

August 14 to September 10 - Kate Samuels

Kate Samuels an enamel artist and MA Design student from The University of The Creative Arts in Rochester has designed 10 innovative and exciting glass fused enamelled panels that are scattered throughout the gardens waiting to be discovered, pieces are hanging, embedded or floating. Each piece is hand-made and inspired by the colours, patterns and shapes found in the gardens. Follow the path and find all 10 pieces.
August 29 to September 8 - The Orchid Show


Botanical paintings, romantic watercolours, photographs and prints, all with the orchid theme. The orchid greenhouse will be open and bursting with blooms for visitors to enjoy.

Now in it’s fifth year! An exclusive event to stimulate and surprise!
100 pieces of art in the garden. A chance to wander in the gardens to enjoy, and buy from a variety of contemporary sculptures. This exhibition is free but garden entrance charge is as normal.

This gallery show runs concurrently with the Sculpture Show, two for one!
Four artists show their work inspired by another year’s experiences from Scotland to South Africa. Prints paintings, collage and pastel.
